Chori began business in Kyoto in 1861 as a raw silk
wholesaler, just as Japan embarked on a course of
modernization in the Meiji Era. Throughout our more than
140-year history, we at Chori have strengthened our
business operations to keep pace with changing times and
meet the needs of people all over the world.
1861Chori founded as a raw silk wholesaler in Nishijin,
Kyoto, Japan.
1926Began handling rayon yarn as the rayon industry
expanded.
1937 Handling 30% of the total annual rayon yarn
production in the Japanese market, Chori became the
largest rayon yarn trader in Japan.
1948Chori Co., Ltd. established with capital of 锟?
million.
1952The head office moved to Higashi-ku (presently Chuo
-ku), Osaka, Japan.
1953 Founded a company to manufacture and sell woolly
nylon in cooperation with Toyo Rayon Co., Ltd.
